Cortona Italy

We left on October 21 arriving in Rome the morning of October 22nd. We found our way through the airport to the Leonardo Express, a rail line directly from the airport to the Rome Termini (main train station). Waited for a train to Cortona.

First lesson...be at the door ready to get off at your stop. We delayed and were blocked in the aisle by a baby buggy. By the time we got to the door people were climbing on and we couldn't get out. We ran to the door at the other end of the car but didn't make it in time. We got off at the next stop and took another train back to our stop. At the train stop we had to wait for a bus to the hill town of Cortona. We arrived in Cortona by dark and were happy to be greeted by Lauren. We had dinner with the staff and students of the U of Georgia where we were greeted with applause and an invitation to go with them for their Saturday excursion...to the hill towns of Volterra and San Gimigano. We were pooped!; but couldn't resist the invitation so took off at 8:00 the next morning with the group.

Over Oray pass to Aspen and Denver

The aspen were the highlight of our trip. We were lucky enough to get a good campsite in the national campground by the Maroon Bells peaks near Aspen CO. Photographers were everywhere. We had to scrape ice off the windows one morning. The pass to Oray was steep and full of hairpin turns.

Over the pass to Mesa Verde

Roadtrip

We took off for a week of Colorado national parks starting with the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

Noah comes home

Noah's arrival

It was a very exciting day. With still a long list of names yet to eliminate, we finally met Noah and gave him his name. Love at first sight for Ella.
